The youthful bandit looked astounded and felt the daggers at her waist absentmindedly. She was still in shock over the fact that the villager she was now speaking to did not know of the coming battle. All she could see now was the villager's mouth opening and closing. But she couldn't hear any words at all. Not a single one. "So I don't know what you're talking about." The plump villager finished, then ambled off towards the marketplace. The bandit named Deraxis Stone stared, mouth gaping after her as she walked away. What a simpleton. But obviously, Deraxis was looking rather out of place here, in her dark armour while villagers scurried around in pink cotton dresses and other pastel-coloured clothing obviously reflecting their optimism.
Deraxis stared out into the scenery that surrounded the village. All she could see were rolling hills and lots of flowers. The young thief rolled her eyes, then in a swift movement, snatched a bag of gold from a man who was passing by. As she counted the pieces, she smiled knowing she would be able to afford the forging of a few more daggers. Stuffing the bag into a secret pocket in her armour, she noticed the man now sticking his hands into his vest wondering where his money had gone. The thief snickered to herself. Oh the people in Skydance were so naive and innocent. She would love to manipulate their minds. Just then, a hand tapped her on the shoulder. Spinning around, she met the eyes of the resident village guard and his posse.
"What do you want?" She hollered defiantly. "I saw what you did." The guard said. "I'm afraid I'll have to arrest you." Deraxis' eyes widened and with speed rivaling that of a cheetah, she darted across the village square and behind a house, a plan forming in her mind as the guards hurried to catch up, their bulky armour making awful clanging noises. They were still mere dots in the distance when Deraxis launched four of her daggers at once, and each hit their mark. The guards collapsed onto the ground as the villagers gathered in panic, wondering who had done the horrible deed.
"Shove off. They're dead." Deraxis said threateningly to the villagers. They shuffled off as quickly as they'd arrived. When she was sure no one was looking, she pulled the bloodstained daggers from the motionless bodies slumped on the ground and pushed them neatly back into her belt. So much for a nice, peaceful arrival.
