Xarin calmed himself down for a moment, whilst seeing Linka trying to find the source of the screeching. He let his arms which were over his ears fall to his sides, and his ice blue eyes fluttered closed. He opened his mind to whatever he wanted to hear and closed his senses to the screeching. He gripped the centre pole of one of his blades, preparing to hurl it at the source of the screeching, wherever it was coming from. The sound resounded everywhere, but not in his mind.

Linka found his mind with her own and gave him breif mental pictures of the pathway,'You need to follow my path exactly otherwise the screech is going to get farther away from you and we both want to kill the source....Be careful though....the creature could be dangerous....' she thought to him with some coinfedence.

Xarin nodded, and followed her every step. The images of the path kept flashing across his mind, and he completely blocked the screech's sound from every thought. He withdrew one of his blades and held it tightly, in case it needed to be used to knock whatever it was dead or unconscious. The rest of the weapons on his belt clinked slightly, a sound inaudible during the course of the screeching. Even the moon to him seemed to flicker then fade. But it could just be a trick of the mind caused by the screech.

Linka guided him but something interferred and she heard the screech again, covering her ears, concetrating on finding his mind again but not able to, whatever was doing the screeching doubled the power by finding a mate,'Hey!Watch yourself.....It's moving....And it's not a bird but it can fly if need be.....' She thought to him as she found him once more.

The ear-splitting decibels cut into his thoughts and the images of the pathway broadcasted into his mind began to grow all fuzzy and faded. Cursed monster...why has it gotten a pal to disturb us more? And the worse was that, it could fly! "You think maybe if we throw a random weapon into the air there would be a chance of hitting those awful creatures?" He shouted into the darkness, ready to hurl all his blades into the air and because he was an elemental, he could make it stay there and fly around, possibly beheading any creatures that flew above. Or maybe these screechers had other abilities he didn't know about.

Linka heard him shout and she shouted something in an elven tongue,"Aithu Azana Ilurheru!" A sudden burst of flame started on the ground, making the trail visible so she didn't have to use mind. The flame was completely harmless and it wasn't like ordinary flames, but it was a simple guide for him to follow, she grunted with pain as the screech went up higher and louder, causing her to black out while falling on her back.

Those creatures were really starting to make Xarin furious. He gave a loud yell of discontempt and hurled his blades one by one into the frigid air, using his elemental powers to make them hover over his head. Then he waved his left hand lightly and the four weapons begun to spin, until they formed a whirring tornado of flashing steel. He pointed at the direction that the flames led to, and the tornado rose higher into the air and flew forth across the path of flame. But the flame also lighted up the surroundings, and he noticed that the young woman was upon the ground, either unconscious or too tired to stand up. Trying to ignore the screech as much as possible, he made his way there and knelt down next to the comatose figure. "You okay?" He took a few glances upwards to make sure his fatal tornado was still pursuing those creatures, then hoped for a reply. The night could not get any worse.

She felt a presence near her and opened her eyes slightly and shut them again slowly,"I think so....." Linka replied, trying to sit up with both hands on one side of her, pushing herself up, the right hand moving to her head as the screech continued to give mental pain to her.Whatever was causing it was going to die out soon enough unless they were....Oh no."Have you heard of the creature called-" She was cut off by a giant animal bursting through the trees and underbrush, whilst screeching. It had a beak of an eagle, the body of a lion, and had red feathery wings, claws were replace by talons, the second one appearing being twice the size of the first, it being the male while the first one being a female. These were'nt gryffins or any common animal, these were Lixaes, one of the most powerful creatures and also one of the most deadly.

Xarin turned his head as the creatures broke out from the forest's darkness to the sound of snapping branches and rustling leaves. It was chaos. Closing his eyes, he summoned back his blades, and the tornado stood between them and the creatures. "Are these creatures agile?" He asked his companion. If they weren't, he was sure he could make quick work of them by morphing into a wolf so they couldn't catch him, and slicing them with his tornado of blades whilst they stumbled to find him. But then again, it might not work. He concentrated once more, summoning his full strength, and a heavy wind began to blow. The trees were blown back towards the creatures, branches snapping and being blown away into the distance.

Linka looked at him and put her head down,"Yes.....Once they start moving, they're almost too fast to....stop..." She replied with no hope in her voice."There's not much we can do to stop them.......They'll kill anything in their path and power 'til nothing stands in their way....I've never summoned one before because of their power....But if I had enough energy I could use something that might stop them........But unfortunatly I don't..." She coughed, closing her eyes, the flame trail going out.

Xarin silently cursed his luck once more. How could he stop these without help? He stopped the furious wind. Then he concentrated and the wind began to spin in a circular motion, the blades flying back to his belt. The circle of wind surrounded the creatures, becoming a whirlwind obscuring their vision. Then he melted into his wolf form, and darted into the undergrowth. From the ground now his blades rose silently, then they shot themselves deep into the whirlwind, possibly impaling the creatures if they were unaware.

The creatures had moved in the nick of time the male prtecting the female, whom was circling Linka, whom wasn't able to fight. Her eyes widened as saw the beak darting for her arm, but she wasn't able to move as fast as it did and a gash was taken out of her arm, she held her arm while she screamed with pain over the roaring winds, the female Lixae grabbing Linka in her talons and lifting her off the ground, the male looking around rapidly for Xarin. The girl gasped for air, the talons squeezing her tightly around her middle, making her unable to breathe, she coughed and shouted,"Xarin!"

The huge black wolf darted from the bushes in a hazy blur, then morphed back into Xarin. "AGH!" He exclaimed when he noticed that the idiot creature had grabbed his compatriot and the other one...it was coming for him. He made sure he summoned another whirlwind, and made sure it obscured the ground so that it wouldn't be so easy for the male to come for him. Then he lifted himself into the air in flight. Landing calmly upon the female, he withdrew one of his blades and plunged it downward towards the female's head.

The female screeched and dove downward with Xarin's companion in her talons still, Xarin himself going down with them. The Lixae landed on it's stomach, dead, the male growing angier and charging at the one who killed his mate, his screeching almost like a roar but still too high to be one, while his tail lifted and was set on fire at command, swinging it at Xarin, Linka being under the dead Lixae, the talons still wrapped around her waist, whilst Linka trying to struggle out of the grasp while gasping for air.

Xarin dodged the flaming tail, but it slightly singed his arm and a searing pain spread through him. He ignored it and hurled all four of his blades using wind at the male, then helped his companion escape from the weight of the dead female. He closed his eyes and muttered something in ancient language, then his blades began to glow white. He called upon the air and attached its powers to his weapons, so that they dealt more damage. Their speed picked up as they whooshed through empty space towards the male.
