Linka was on her knees and was coughing and gasping for air, the male getting sliced in for different areas - the shoulder, the right hindleg, the left front leg, and part of his tail.Xarin was going to burn out sooner or later and she touched the ground with the tips of her fingers and summoned all the dark energy she could find in their current surroundings, and amied one palm of her hand and said something that no one could hear, while a black orb became to grow larger and larger until she finally released it and it shot into the Lixae's head. The male fell on it's side burnt badly on it's head, eyes open.

Xarin walked over cautiously to the male, still gripping his arm where the flame hit him. He tucked the bloodstained blades back into his belt and poked at the creature with his finger. Was it dead? The eyes glared at him, wide open. He bade his whirlwinds calm down, and the air became quiet and still once more. He was half-expecting the creature to leap up again...
ooc-Sorry, not much muse at the moment.

The creature was, in fact, dead, Linka putting her hand back on her arm, blood staining her hands as she did so, she looked at Xarin, watching him poke the creature before saying,"It's dead.......Trust me....It's dead....A Lixae can't handle that much darkness at one time, it's body can't take the power behind it, let alone digest it...It feeds off of human flesh and blood....That's why they were going for us...Their screech penatrates the body quickly making it weaker.."

"I see." He winced as he touched the burnt skin where the Lixae had left its mark. "Well, do you think we should head back to camp now?" He asked. What a night. Xarin had left the dark camp to do a little stroll. Then he met his companion, chatted awhile, then a horrible screech had ruined it all. What followed afterwards was now a blur. Why did the Lixaes have to pick on them. It was such a lovely night. He wanted to get back to camp now and have the healers help them. "We need healers." He said again, looking in the direction of camp.

"No need to go to camp for healers, come over here..." She motioned for him with her bloodstained hand, a gentle and caring expression etched across her face, her gray eyes showed care, kindness, and respect for him, and when it came from her, it meant something because she usually didn't show affection for people, but instead kept it hidden.Linka didn't care about her own wound, she was to worried about him.

Xarin walked warily over, tiredness clearly reflected in the ice blue eyes, but yet there was still a trace of its usual laughter. He coughed slightly, then managed to say. "It's okay, just a small burn." He let go of his arm and the burn was exposed to the frozen air. It hurt pretty bad, but since he was trained to resist pain since young, he could take it. He noticed the blood dripping from Linka's hand. "You should worry about your own injuries, not mine." He maintained.

Linka shook her head and sighed,"No....The burn will get infected if not treated, and besides it would take almost a month to heal on it's own...And you basically saved me from getting killed and then eatened so it's my way of repaying you.Now hold still.." She placed her clean hand on his arm and closed her eyes, his wound disappearing and she sighed."You're done......."

Xarin's eyes widened as the burn disappeared before his very eyes. "Thanks..." Was all he could mutter. Looking around, he wondered if there were any other Lixaes or creatures around. He sure did not want to run into another one. Tonight had already been tough. He noticed the round pale moon was once again out, and he smiled to himself. The night was becoming peaceful again. "How about your injuries now?" He asked, concerned. He usually wasn't, but very soon, he reckoned, when the sun rose he would be back to his usual, arrogant self. Tonight had taught him a lesson.

She nodded in welcome and looked up at the sky, seeing that it would be morning soon, she sighed, and shook her head,"No....I'm not really concerned with my own...Jilos will patch it up later...My dragon if you recall earlier this evening.." She said, the blood dri[iing off her fingers as she looked at it, curling it into a light fist.

"Yeah, your dragon." Xarin said. He made sure that the belt held fast his weapons. "Now what?" He asked, regaining some of his earlier energy. His ice blue eyes sparkled with laughter once more. He had just survived a Lixae attack, how fortunate! Well, Xarin had always been some sort of a dark optimist. He also had a knack for keeping people's spirits up, and now he could sense it needed to be used again. "Well, the new day might bring something great for the dark side. I heard there are new plans coming from the war tent." He looked at the horizon as the light of dawn got brighter each minute.

Linka looked back at him and smiled slightly out of amusement,"I don't know....I guess we should start heading back to camp....It will be morning in a few hours..." She said quietly, while watching him, feeling as if she liked him but dismissed the idea soon after wondering about it.She looked away, then turning completely, a breeze blowing her hair to the side slightly.

"Good idea." Xarin said, looking towards the now lighted path towards camp as the sun arose. He started to walk towards camp and turned back occasionally to make sure that Linka followed close behind. As he walked, thoughts began flashing into his mind, like memories from the past...
"How could you! You believed that stupid fortuneteller?" A fourteen-year-old Xarin screamed at his parents. "No, no, it's just that we don't want you to be a murderer! The prophet stated that you would be capable of even murdering terrible creatures with that blade of yours and you will soon start to kill people! We don't want that to happen!" His mother shouted back, her eyes brimming with tears. Xarin scoffed. "Like I'll be able to defeat a dragon or a lixae!" His father's features looked dead serious. "Yes you can. And when you do, who knows what other lives you might take next...."

Linka followed close behind, her thoughts drifting to his mind about her past and everything she had been through, but her mind pulled back like a child being afraid of getting touched by someone other than the ones they trusted.Time seem to slow down as she walked, and everytime she looked back she thought she saw him..
"Linka! How could you?!You disobeyed me and defide me!you worthless, ignorant, ingrateful brat!" Yelled her father while he slapped her across the face, tears filling Linka's eyes,"I did what I could! It's not my fault that I wasn't there on time....Father....Please stop doing this...Please!I'm begging you!" She had tears rolling down her face,"I'll do what I want....You have no input for my life, now get up!" Linka did as she was told and her father started beating her horribly,he stopped when she was bleeding and has bruises. He sent her to her room to await further punishment...Like the whip.
Linka didn't relieze that her memories were open minded and flowing freely into his mind until the last minute, but by then he probably had seen it all.

Suddenly, memories that weren't of Xarin's own started filling his mind. Then when they ended, he was sure that they were of his compatriot who was following him quietly. The images in his mind were so vivid that he could almost feel her emotions at being slapped by her parents. He was the one who had screamed at his parents and defied whilst she just submitted and begged for forgiveness.
"You had a bad childhood?"
He asked, trying to keep his voice as calm as possible, so not as to shock his new friend.

Linka looked up from the ground at which she was staring at, looking at him with a blank expression before sighing and responding.
"Yes......My father....He beat me and he drank uncontrollably....I always begged him to stop but hee wouldn't listen..."
She tried maintaining a calm and natural voice but it was worthless trying to cover up her emotions of pain and horror, remembering the beatings that her father gave to her almost daily from being drunk and from being mad at her for not doing what she was told, when she was only trying to help.
