Kayle watched the other soliders training and laughed. "They're not soliders, they don't know how to fight properly." He was siting on a log with his sword laying beside him. It had a long blade with an ornamented hilt. In the centre of the hilt was an amethyst jewel that was enchanted to store his other weapons so he could call them as needed. Kayle had been in the Light army for a while, but he hadn't found anyone who he liked or thought was a decent warrior. He stood, muttering to himself about ametuere fighters. Suddenly, a fist slammed into the back of his head, knocking him flat. Kayle rolled over and reached for his sword.
"Not so fast boy," said Wesley Kaelas as he kicked the sword away, "let's see how much of a fighter you are without you precious sword." Wesley Kaelas was the General of the Light army, known for his strategic mind and strict disipline of his troops.
"Where's your honour, striking a man from behind?" kayle kicked himself upright and adopted a fighting stance.
Wesley responded by striking out with an open palm into Kayle's face before slamming his knee into the solider's gut, doubling him over.
"Honourless son of a gutter sleeper," kayle sneered once he got his breath back. Being winded hurt, but then Wesley reward his insult with a boot to the stomach. Kayle dropped to his knees with an outraged groan.
"Insolent maggot," Wesley sneered, preparing to give the boy another boot. "I do not take backchat."

Dornovarn strode into the Training Area, a smile of cold rage on his lips. It crystalised once he saw his general, and comrade from battles past, raise his foot against a downed soldier.
"Kealas, you better have a good reason for that," the bored drawl was almost mocking, almost laughing. Truthfully, he wasn't all that surprised to see Wesley beating one of the soldiers for something. It was his method of training that got a lot through, taught them to ignore pain and keep on their feet. Flames, he'd been on the recieving end of a few sparring session with Wesley that had turned nasty. He'd only just managed to stay on his feet and block, forget attacking back.
But the men were bringing the boy and he didn't want the boy to have broken bones just yet, he had to curb Wesley. Since the Commando was off on drills with the elite units, it had fallen to Wesley to keep track of the general troops as well as his usual spies and assassins when Katarn was off doing whatever it was he did. While Dornovarn was greatful for the strategic mind, he wasn't prepared to lose fighters because of a code of behaviour set enforced by an almost mad man.
He waited calmly, his arms at his sides, dark eyebrow raised in query.

Taled continued to make numerous muffled noises, ranging from something very unacceptable, to let me go, and other things which you would do not best to try and shout at the leader of the light. Taled was angry now, and hurt, these men were tougher and much bigger than little Taled and it didn't help his confidence, let alone his scarce chances of escaping.

"Of course i have a reason..." Wesley glanced at Dornovarn and smiled, as he kicked Kayle again, "He needed to lean that his way of fighting isn't the only kind. And he needs to learn to respect his fellow soldiers. Especially the mages." He offered his hand to the stricken Kayle, "what’s you name soldier?"
"Nassard..." Kayle spat a gob of blood at his feet, "Kayle Nassard." He pushed the proffered hand away and got to his feet the hard way, it took him three attempts before he finally managed to stay upright. d**n, he's fast. .
"You took one hell of a beating, you'd better get yourself to the healers" Wesley was impressed; he hadn't gone that hard on a recruit ever since he himself was training. Amazing that the lad managed to get to his feet, let alone stay upright. He watched as the boy staggered off to the healers. "So Donovarn...what can i do for you?" Slowly he eyed off the boy gagged and held by the guards, "What’s with this one?"

"He's just been causing a little trouble," Dornovarn replied, dismissing Taled as insignificant at that moment. Of course, the men carrying him didn't think so.
"Sir," one asked, his voice husky from supressd laughter, "can we teach 'im some drills?"
"With what?" Dornovarn asked, turning back to them for a moment.
"I was thinkin' 'e could learn some of our hand-ta-hand stuff, since he's little an' all..." The other men tried not to laugh.
"As long as when you bringing him to me later he hasn't needed to see the mages. Understood?"
The men nodded, well aware that the command meant they couldn't beat the boy to a pulp, they actually had to teach him what they could between them. They were fairly good fighters, so there was a lot Taled could learn from them.
"I need to talk with the General." The words were a soft command, and the burly men nodded and carried Taled a short distance away. Once he was fairly certain he could speak without being overheard, Dornovarn turned to his comrade. "The Dark are planning something. How ready are the soliders?" He had changed from lenient Leader into the cold, almost expressionless man people recognised on the battlefield. Dornvarn, dark warrior, was nothing if not determined. He'd joined the Light because of a pledge to protect, and he'd stay with them because of the same vow. But for the moment, he was weighing options, and he needed to have honesty from his people. He wished he could have talked to his second-in-command, but for the moment, Wesley was his more pressing concern.

Aria walked in, looking at Taled through the corner of her eye. She shook her head. "Dumb kid..." She muttered, as she saw Dornvarn. She walked over, her quiver bouncing on her back, her sword still at her side. "Leader." She said, standing next to him. "If I heard correctly, the ememy is planning something?" Aria said, brushing back her red hair softly. She blinked her sapphire eyes, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
Aria... this doesn't sound good... One goddess, Mor'Har, spoke softly from the back of her mind. Aria nodded to herself. Mor'Har, the oldest goddess, and one of the wisest, was always with Aria though battles, giving her added strength. All of the gods were always backing her up, except the mysterious Spier'Hnor, she never knew much about that one.

Dornovarn nodded, relieved tht his 2IC had arrived. "Seems you arrived in time, well done." He smiled and ran a hand through his dark har. "The problem is, I'm not sure what they're planning, only that it's something to do with the camp. And that's only what I'm guessing from the cryptic warnings Katarn left."
Shaking his head, Dornovarn decided what he could tell his two most trusted officers. Even in the Training Area, no one was close enough to hear. "I think they're going to attack the base, try to thin ourt numbers... Which would make sense. And they can't succeed, not if we want to win this war." Hesitantly, he confided the last piece of information he had. "And The Rose is coming, I don't know when, but she's on her way. Which means we may have an advatage, we may not. But Katarn will know, and he'll do what he can from his end of things." Dornovarn looked from Aria to Wesley and back again. "I need to know if we have th capable men to stop the Dark from wiping us out in our sleep."

Aria nodded, blinking her eyes. She listened to something Mor'Har was saying in the back of her mind, as she nodded to herself again. "Well, thinking if they are going to attack our base, we should put out more lookouts, don't you think?" Aria suggested, letting her arms hang at her sides. She grabbed her bow, and felt the woods softly with her right hand. "Even if they do try a suprise attack, we would be ready, for we could hear them coming. We could send some spies, if possible. If not, we could wait. You don't officially know if this is an attack or not, do you?" Aria asked, letting her left hand, which held her bow, down to her side.
"We should assemble the men here quickly, should we not?" Aria said, knowing that they needed men to be lookouts. "I visited the healer's tent, and many are all well and good to fight, unless some of us are 'training' with out new recuits again..." She smiled, looking at Wesley out of the corner of her eye and laughed. Soon, after a calm call of a bird, her phoenix landed on her shoulder again. Yasur looked around softly, as Aria lifted her hand to her bird. "Or, could Yasur be of any help?"

Elaine passed the training grounds along the way back to her tent. Catching a glimpse, of a small figure with a trio of guards silhouetted around it, she squinted through the dark mist and walked closer to them with her hands behin her back, noticing three other people with them. "They seem to be having a conversation..." Elaine percepted.
The mist began to clear as she got closer, recognizing the Leader. Sweet memories began to fill her mind and a smile spread onto her face. Then, she saw a young boy. "It's him again!" Elaine felt a jolt hit her. Staring at his hurt expression, Elaine began to pity the young child who had been gagged by the guards,"He is afterall just a kid. What are they planning to do with him anyway?"
"Uhm..." she cleared her throat to announce her presence,"May I ask politely, what do you plan to do to this child that defied your orders?" Elaine gestured to Taled.

"Sure, that chicken of yours will be very useful. We could feed it to the soldiers and put some fire in their bellies," Wesley grimaced under Dornovarn's glare, "And as for the soldiers i doubt they'll ever be ready for war." Dornovarn raised an eyebrow, "Now i see why i get so many complaints about you." Wesley shook his head, "There isn't much that can be done with what you've given me. But there is always the contingency plan." "And what would that be?" "Cooking oil." Wesley lowed his voice so that only Aria and Dornovarn could hear him, "You said that we're going to be attacked. Let them come. We cover the camp with cooking oil and when the Dark army stands inside our camp we light it." "The Dark won't attack an empty camp," Dornovarn said softly. "I know..." A sad tone crept into the general's voice. "Deploy them, they're your men," Dornovarn was cold, calm, quiet, "they signed on for this." "Somehow i doubt they signed on to be sacrificed. And there needs to be others in the camp, not just the soldiers. We can't afford to let the dark to discover that it's a trap. And its not my place to sacrifice them." "I have a few in mind." Without smiling, despite the obvious effort, Dornovarn nodded for Wesley to continue. The general had his permission to do whatever it took to cripple the Dark. After all, Katarn had killed more men and women than could be counted because they were Dark spies... "Good, I'll..." Wesley paused, "Strike forces..." Wesley walked away. "I take it he had an idea," Dornovarn said, shaking his head slightly as he watched the general walk away. "He does that sometimes, but normally everything gets done... He's almost scary in one of those determined moods." There was a pause, "Actually, he's normally pretty scary..." Dornovarn shrugged, aware that his second in command may have more than a few issues with the plan as it stood.

[ Maybe you guys didn't read my post...]
"Did they hear me?" she thought, biting her fingernails nervously. It has always been a bad habit of hers. Elaine quickly ceased her biting and asked again,"Pardon me. May I ask, what do you have in store for this boy, Taled Mulion?" she shook her dark locks out of her face and glanced at them, awaiting an answer.

Dornovarn turned slowly to face Elaine. For a moment, he couldn't quite see her past the coldness in himself. Then he pushed it back and looked the princess over carefully. She was still too gentle for battle. And that tore at him, that sooner rather than later, he would be asking this young woman who had never tapped her real strength, to heal those injured almost pointlessly.
"If he learns well," Dornovarn said slowly, a small smile beginning, "he'll be part of a unit, if not, he can stay here at the Camp. It all depends on him."
And from what he could see, the boy was actually giving almost as much as he got. Considering the three men who were teaching him, that showed potential as well as danger. Katarn had told him never to cast aside a tool in case it became a weapon used against you. Taled was one of those people who fit that proverb.
"It all depends on him." Dornovarn frowned and clasped his hands behind his back, rubbing his fingers over each other gently. He always did that when something felt wrong but he coundn't find anything definate yet. A thread of silk wrapped itself around his heart and started to constrict. His heart rate increased as though he was afraid. What in the name of all that's sacred? he thought. But the sensation was familiar, from a time he'd pushed away... Ruthlessly, Dornovarn focused on Elaine, determined not to let some nebulous worry distract him from his responsibilities.

"Dornovarn, just a question here. Should I help along with anything, or should I hang back and used as a line of defence behind lines?" She asked, hearing Mor'Har tell her what could be added. Aria almost regretted the idea of saying this, but then she raised her head and spoke away anyway. "My god, Nu'Mirtun, may provide handy. She is the Tiger Goddess and could help along with any plan or... for saftey's sake." She had lowered her voice so only he could hear. Yasur, hearing it anyway, pecked her head, almost telling her that it was a bad idea to let loose one of the gods.

"Hopefully there will be too many fronts to have a determined back line," Dornovarn muttered, trying to trace the pattern of Wesley's broken speech. "The gods are your expertise, if you don't believe they'll help, leave them be. We have too much at stake as it is." He gave her a small smile, because he trusted her to be an excellent 2IC, and he knew that should something happen to him, she was more than capable to take over. The thought reassured him, comforted him, moved him to action, but he couldn't place why.
"You're on better terms with the healers and mages than I am, how about you see what they think they'd be best at? Remember what Wesley said though, strike forces." The smile twisted, became darker. "Small numbers, surprise attacks, quick retreats... And a small party to stay here." Raising his gaze to Aria's, Dornovarn tried not to let the cold anger growing in him show. "They're going to play dirty, but they've forgotten who they face. Let's make them remember." In that moment, he felt someone else's fear skitter along his nerves, tear at his control and provoke his temper. The fear was unfamiliar, but the silk wasn't, he recognised that thread... And then it snapped, his name echoing in his head like a distant scream in a valley. What in the name of-
He'd said it, the Dark play dirty. He'd forgotten, but it appeared they hadn't...
